Aroma Coffee was first established in 1965 in Sydney and, over the years, has become a real force in the roasting and distributing of freshly roasted estate coffee.

In 1998, after running a coffee shop for a year and gaining an insight into the retail side of things, Gavin Gam took over as owner of Aroma Coffee. (Those are his hands in the picture.)

It was the perfect match. Because Gavin is a coffee connoisseur and a humanitarian, not a bean counter.

He also happens to be responsible for most of the photos you see on this website, which explains a lot.

For one thing, it’s clear that National Geographic will never offer him a job.

But more importantly it says that Gavin has been to, and continues to go to, the places where the coffee is grown.

Costa Rica, India, Guatemala, Brazil, Ethiopia, Tanzania.

Countries all over the world, where it’s coffee crops that sustain humanity.

With no agents or middlemen, Gavin has come to know and understand the growers at the place of origin well, and they know him.

To Gavin, those relationships make all the difference because these dedicated and loyal growers would never let him walk away with mediocre coffee. They make sure he always gets the best of the season.
